Indian Designer Sarees 2011
Every unstitched cloth in history has been considered to be sacred. This particular attire finds its origin back to the Indus valley civilization with women wearing it draped like a trouser.Over a time period, Designer Saree has seen an exponential change not just as an attire to be worn to temples but also as an everyday wear.
Through the tunnel of history every region has adapted its own style of wearing the Designer Saree and each has their own history.Now-a-days, sarees are preferred mostly as Party wear.

One finds female statues dating back to Indus Valley civilization wearing sarees with the cloth going between the legs to give it an appearance of trousers.

Statues and paintings have also been recovered with the Female goddess depicted wearing Saree in the “Fish Tail” fashion.This is a particularly sensuous way of wearing a Saree with drapes in front of the legs in a decorative manner.

As Hindus regarded any stitched cloth to be impure, women were not taken to wearing blouses prior to the British era.With British invasion and more Muslim women preferring to wear Saree, the existence of Blouse aka the Choli came into being.

Starting then the main aspects of Saree remain the same; a 6 yard Saree, a petticoat and a matching blouse.
